Welcome to my Web site!
Hello my name is Mike and I am from Woodhouses  Nr Burntwood in Staffordshire...
I have been a licensed radio ham since 1968 and operated on 2mts to 13cms bands until 1974 when I lost interest in amateur radio. With my wife Diane spent all of our time bringing up our two children Clare and Michael. It was 2003 when thanks to a friend G3WBB Ted that I gained an interest in APT weather Satellite reception, bought a receiver ICOM 8500 and started listening a on 137mhz and downloading weather pictures, but it wasn't long before I found 2mts on the dial and as they say the rest is history. When we were given the use of the HF bands in the summer 2003 this started a new lease of enthusiasm and now operate SSB, PSK31, SSTV and RTTY on all bands from 80mts to 70cms using Yaesu ft-847 and Yaesu Ft-1000MP mk V.
I retired from work in November 2002 and decided to take up my old love for woodwork ,so I purchased a workshop and erected it at the top of the garden, fitted it out with all necessary tools, and started to relearn what skills I had with my hands. Late 2003 I decided ,I don't know why, to buy a old radio off EBay and try and restore it( maybe it was the combination of woodwork and electronics), this was a 1930 Cossor 235 you can follow the restoration in one of the picture galleries.
